Based on feedback from a Canadian sheep hunter who takes kids on 7-10 day hunts, the Long X maximizes volume on the Western Edge Gear pack system.  It combines a shelf between the main bag and frame with a detachable, adjustable lid for hauling meat or other heavy loads, and full-length side pockets hold lots of gear, water, clothing, bipods/tripods, etc.  Fully expanded to 4000 cubic inches (65 liters), the Long X will handle as much gear as a kid or small adult is able or willing to carry, yet it also compresses down to a compact day pack.  
The detachable lid is the same size as on our other packs and includes the “back door” zipper for easy access whether the lid is open or closed, upright or lying down.  It also includes a storm flap to keep rain and snow out of the main bag.  Choose a lid to match the bag color or choose orange to meet state requirements for hunter orange visibility and to more easily keep track of kids in the field.

The bag will extend 3”-4” below the bottom of an 18” frame and 1”-2” below the bottom of a 20” frame.  However, bottom compression straps easily reduce extra volume if necessary.
 
Basic colors include Coyote Brown, Foliage Green, Ranger Green, and Tan.  Multicam is additional $10.  Contact us to see if we can help you with other colors.
